General Attendance Information
Remember: Absences must be called in to Warren Tech, in addition to your home high school.
Parents/Families, to excuse your student's absence, please contact the attendance line at the Warren Tech campus that your student attends.
Calls should be made within 24 hours after the absence to excuse the students.
Parent/family (not the student) needs to leave the following information:
1. Student's name (spell out the last name)
2. Program they are enrolled in
3. Date and reason for absence
4. Your name, telephone number, and relationship to student
5. Students also must call their instructor
A separate phone call must be made to the student's home high school if your student will be missing there as well.
If your student knows in advance that they will be absent from school for an extended amount of time, please complete a Pre-Arranged Absence Form. The parent/family must sign the form along with the student. After the form is signed by both parent/family and the student, it can be turned into the student's teacher. The teacher will sign the form and forward it to Administration for authorization. This form is not required for one days absence.
Frequently Asked Questions Regarding Attendance
COVID Concerns and Attendance
We have recently experienced an increase of positive COVID-19 cases in our school. Schools
will no longer be identifying close contacts by classroom, so if you think your student may have
been exposed in school, monitor for symptoms, test if possible, and follow guidelines below.
Please review and follow our district’s current isolation protocols aligned with CDC Guidance.
● If you have COVID-19 or symptoms of COVID-19. Regardless of vaccination status,
positive cases of COVID-19 and those experiencing symptoms must isolate for 5 days
past symptom onset or positive test collection date, for asymptomatic cases.
● The individual can return to school on day 6, if fever-free for 24 hours without
the use of medication, and symptoms are improving, or if never developed
symptoms. A mask is strongly recommended for days 6-10 when indoors and
around others. No test is required to return to school.
● Exposed individuals: if exposed to COVID-19, the CDC recommends an individual wear a
high-quality mask for 10 days, get tested on day 5, and monitor for symptoms.
Students who test positive or develop any of the symptoms listed here should not come to
school:
-
● Fever or chills
-
● Cough
-
● Shortness of breath or difficult breathing
-
● Fatigue, Muscle or body aches, headache
-
● New loss of taste or smell
-
● Sore throat, congestion, or runny nose
-
● Nausea, vomiting, or diarrhea
Please notify the school of your child’s absence. We also encourage you to seek out COVID-19
testing and call your medical provider. For a list of testing sites in Jefferson County, visit
Jefferson County Public Health’s website.
Masking at this time remains optional but is highly encouraged. Please continue to watch your
email for further communication as we monitor this situation and work with JCPH on mitigation
strategies.
