Automotive Collision Repair

Student sanding a carProgram Overview

Are you a team player, self-motivated, visual, coordinated, organized? Can you follow instructions, focus, concentrate, manage tools, lift heavy objects? Would you like to use hammers, grinders, welders, complete paint projects, manage your own shop?

Auto Collision Repair Technicians find their skills increasingly valued as more vehicles fill the roads and a greater number of traffic accidents damage these vehicles. Although some automobiles are damaged beyond repair and are scrapped or sold for salvage, many can be repaired to return to the roads. Students in Auto Collision Repair learn to assess the damage, remove and install parts, straighten bent frames, remove dents, replace sections, and paint the car body. In addition, students learn how to estimate a repair job and run a shop. Analyzing what is needed to complete the repair and taking the job to completion involves both problem-solving skills and good manual dexterity. Collision repair and refinishing is a challenging, lucrative, and a rewarding career, especially as vehicles become more diverse and high-tech in their construction.
